Leeds United took part in the Blue Star Youth Tournament from 4th May 1978. Other participants unknown, other than Leeds drew 0-0 with FC Grenchen and also FC Zurich in the preliminary games. They progressed to the Semi-Finals, where they again drew 0-0 with AC Milan, but won the penalty shoot-out by 4-2 to progress to the Final. There Manchester United won by 1-0 for Leeds to finish runners-up.
